Renowned lyricist Abdel Rahman el Abnoudy passed away on Tuesday at the age of 76.

Abnoudy was admitted to hospital a few days ago suffering from health problems.

Abnoudy is married to TV presenter Nihal Kamal. He is survived by two daughters; Nour and Aya.

Abnoudy was one of the major Egyptian poets and lyricists who enriched the Egyptian literary life since the 50's of the past century.

He compiled songs for several key singers including Abdel Halim Hafez, Sabah, Shadia and Warda.
