Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese said Wednesday he would visit Ethiopia in September upon an invitation from Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church Abune Mathias.
In statements, Pope Tawadros said he would participate in the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Ethiopia.
Patriarch Mathias played an important role in support of Egypt with regard to contacts with all Ethiopian officials on the River Nile issue.
Egyptians live on the Nile banks; which meant only on four percent of the Egyptian lands, the Pope said, highlighting the importance of the Nile for the Egyptians.
