Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the local governments institution would be strengthened and made fully functional.


The power and authority would be devolved at grass-roots level so that problems of people could be solved at their doorsteps, he said in a statement issued here on Tuesday.


The chief minister said that the new system would provide people with necessary relief as the agenda of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government was to provide facilities to people along with timely solution to their problems.


Sardar Usman Buzdar said the PTI would introduce the new LG system through consultations, adding that it would provide relief to people. There was no room for outdated local bodies system in the New Pakistan as the present system has failed to solve problems of people, he added.


He said that the government would grant authority to the local governments representatives. The LGs were being strengthened for achieving the goal of a new Pakistan, he maintained.


The chief minister said that the new system would depict the desires and aspirations of people, adding that following the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, a system of checks and balances would also be introduced in the LGs to ensure complete transparency in the new system.
