His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday undertook a tour of the Abu Dhabi International Defence Exhibition (IDEX), which was opened yesterday at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). Sheikh Mohammed toured a number of pavilions of national and foreign companies exhibiting at the 11th edition of IDEX, the only tri-service exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa A total of 1,112 companies from 59 countries are showcasing advanced defence technology, systems and solution across land, sea and air sectors. During his tour, Sheikh Mohammed got insight into the latest sophisticated defence systems, services and products crafted by both national and international exhibitors. He interacted with the exhibitors about their engagement at IDEX, the international up-to-date defence production trends and about the significance of the show to countries, defence manufacturers, suppliers and contractors involved in the MENA's growing defence market. Sheikh Mohammed set out his tour with a stop at HYDRA Trading LLC where he acquainted himself with displays including spare parts, military vehicles, military medical supplies, emergency and evacuation equipment, life support systems, and bullet proof vests. Sheikh Mohammed then proceeded to the Chinese pavilion where he viewed the latest defence systems on display. At Turkey's pavilion, Sheikh Mohammed met with Hassan Kamal Yardimci, Deputy Defence Minister, who described Turkey's engagement at IDEX as the largest in international defence shows. He also visited the Finnish pavilion where Arto Raty, Permanent Secretary at the Finnish Ministry of Defence, informed HH about Finland's participation at IDEX.
