Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri will speak about the challenges that Kosovo has faced since its declaration of independence. She will talk about statebuilding and reform; Kosovo’s international relations and challenges in its bid towards integration with the EU and NATO. Ms Tahiri will also talk about her role as Kosovo’s chief negotiator in the current ongoing technical dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, facilitated by the EU.  Ms Edita Tahiri is the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, responsible for issues relating to foreign policy and national security. Before taking on this role, Ms Tahiri was the Minister of Public Administration.      Edita Tahiri has been a politician, diplomat and negotiator - one of the main protagonists in the political changes effecting Kosovo and South Eastern Europe. She was one of the founders and key leaders of the movement for Kosovo’s independence, the Democratic League of Kosovo, in the years 1991-1999. She was Kosovo’s Foreign Minister (1991-2000) and participated in the Kosovo delegation at the Rambouillet Conference (1999) in the run up to NATO’s intervention in Kosovo in 1999.
