Iranian Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari announced that his forces are preparing to stage major military exercises in the southeastern parts of the country to enhance their combat preparedness.

"These exercises will be staged at three tactical phases with the use of state-of-the-art equipment,” Brigadier General Heidari was quoted by Iranian news agency Fars as saying.

He noted that the three-day drills will start on Sunday.
