Christian leader Michel Aoun addresses a press conference in Beirut on Oct. 20, 2016.

The leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, said on Sunday his party’s members of parliament would vote for General Michel Aoun, a Hezbollah ally, to become president of Lebanon at a parliamentary session at the end of October.
Lebanon has been without a president for more than two years, leading to breakdowns in many basic services and raising fears of future unrest.
Lebanon’s former prime minister Saad Al-Hariri said on Thursday he would back Aoun to be president
