Armed Forces chief-of-staff Mahmoud Hegazy attended on Thursday military exercises carried out by the Second Field Army forces.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Hegazy urged the attendees to observe a minute of silence in mourning of the martyrs of the Egyptian army.
He then praised high-level combat and fighting skills shown by servicemen who are going to join forces fighting terrorism in Sinai.
He also inspected an exhibition of military equipment used at security checkpoints.
The Armed Forces will remain the protective shield that maintains Egypt's security and stability, he noted, vowing to eradicate terrorism in Sinai.
The drills were attended by a number of the Armed Forces top brass.
