H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, today praised the contribution made by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to the Abu Dhabi economy and in creating prosperity for the nation, during an official visit to ADNOC’s Ruwais refinery complex, located 240 kilometers west of Abu Dhabi City.
HH stressed that ADNOC has the unwavering support of the Abu Dhabi and UAE leadership. He commended the Group’s focus on its long-term strategic goals, while at the same time conserving the country’s hydrocarbon assets for future generations.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed was accompanied during the visit by Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Sate and ADNOC Group CEO, Awaidha Murshed Al Marar, Chairman of Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport, Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority, Mohammed Hamad bin Azzan Al Mazrouei, Undersecretary of the Ruler’s Representative Court in the Western Region, Ali Al Rumaithi, representative of the Crown Prince Court, and a number of senior officials and dignitaries in the Western Region.
Dr Al Jaber said: "It is a great honour for ADNOC to welcome H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Ruwais and we are grateful for his support. As we strive for operational excellence, ADNOC remains committed to delivering maximum value from our natural resources in support of the nation’s socio-economic goals, as mandated by the leadership.

Dr Al Jaber added the well-being of ADNOC’s employees is an absolute priority, stressing the company spares no effort to maintain the safety and health of its staff who he said are the company’s most valuable asset.
The visit included a tour of the main control in the Ruwais refinery building, where the command team provided a comprehensive presentation on the operational procedures, followed by a tour of the facilities. The visit also included a tour of the apartment complex in Ruwais, facilities and installations.
TAKREER refineries - Ruwais and Umm Al Nar - produce 922,000 bpd.
ADNOC is undertaking several residential, health, education, cultural sports and recreational projects in Ruwais.
They include Al Yash Guest House in Ruwais 5 and 6 which cost AED 150 million and AED450 million respectively, a AED 340 million residential complex for bachelors, AED55 million New International School, AED 260 elementary and secondary, third phase of the accommodation complex for families at the value of AED2.5 billion, a 663 villa community with total cost of AED2.5 billion, and health clubs at total cost of AED 74 million and a AED 197 million shopping mall.
