Fahad Al Hosani, Acting CEO of Emirates Post Group, thanked H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his visit to the EPG pavilion and signing the ornamental frame at WETEX, the annual exhibition that has emerged as a unique event of its kind in the world.
Referring to the unique stamps on UAE currency and coins, he hailed the move as the result of a fruitful cooperation between UAE Central Bank and Emirates Post Group to commemorate the issuing of UAE's first currency on May 19th, 1973, in denominations of Dh1, 150 fils, Dh2, Dh3 and Dh4, along with the First Day Covers on coins, Dh8.50, and currency, Dh19, respectively.
The commemorative stamps are available for stamp enthusiasts and philatelists through outlets in selected post offices, along with philately tools and specialised equipment for stamp collectors. The issuing of the stamps of the UAE currency is part of Emirates Post Group's strategy of commemorating various events and historic occasions of the UAE.
