French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius left Cairo Sunday morning after a visit to Egypt during which he met with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and foreign minister Sameh shoukry.
Talks between the two sides tackled bilateral relations and other issues of mutual concern, including the latest developments in the region and the Middle East peace process.
President Sisi welcomed France's new bid to resume Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations, during his meeting with the French foreign minister.
The French minister conveyed greetings of French President Francois Hollande to Sisi, praising progress in Egyptian-French relations.
Fabius stressed that France is looking forward to further strengthening bilateral relations with Egypt during the next phase.
The French official is on a Middle East tour taking him also to Jordan, the Palestinian territories and Israel.
