The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, attended the high-level plenary meeting of the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit, following the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness  Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.


The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, to shed light on world peace on the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth, with the participation of many leaders, heads of government and ministers from around the world and important international figures.


The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of commemorating the legacy and role of the late Nelson Mandela in confronting the challenges that threaten the progress of future generations, in light of the increasing international efforts to resolve these challenges. He also praised the values of tolerance and perseverance that embody his lasting symbol of humanity.


The Minister of Foreign Affairs added that the promotion of tolerance requires a distinct vision and concrete action to work on building peaceful and stable societies of mutual understanding and respect.


The Minister of Foreign Affairs also attended the unveiling of the Nelson Mandela statue.


It is worth noting that the United Nations General Assembly held a session on July 18, 2018, in celebration of Nelson Mandela's International Day.
