Finance Minister Amr El Garhy

Finance Minister Amr El Garhy left Wednesday for Washington leading a high-level delegation to the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG).

Minister Garhy will meet a number of IMF officials, including its Chief Christine Lagarde to discuss the latest developments regarding Egypt's economic reform program as well as the agenda of the IMF delegation's visit to Cairo later in October.

Garhy will hold talks with World Bank officials on ways of supporting Egypt's economic reform program.

Meanwhile, the minister will confer with chiefs of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

Besides taking part in the meetings of the G20 finance ministers and bank governors, minister Garhy is scheduled to convene with delegations of top rating agencies like Moody's, Fitch Ratings and Standard & Poor's.

The Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the WBG and the IMF bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, parliamentarians, private sector executives, representatives from civil society organizations and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.
