Council of Arab Economic Unity

Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil will take part in the ministerial meeting of the Council of Arab Economic Unity, to be hosted by Jordan by the end of March.

Qabil, during a meeting with newly-appointed Jordanian Ambassador here Ali el Ayed on Sunday, said Egypt's participation in the meeting comes as part of its keenness on fostering trade and economic cooperation with different Arab states.

Qabil stressed that Egyptian-Jordanian relations are an example of distinguished relations among Arab brothers, a statement by the Trade and Industry Ministry said Monday.

The two sides discussed preparations for the meetings of Arab trade ministers, that will be hosted by Jordan.

They also underlined the importance of expanding trade and economic cooperation between the two countries within the coming period.

Talks tackled the importance of removing hurdles facing Egypt's agricultural exports to the Jordanian market.

The Jordanian diplomat expressed his country's keenness on enhancing economic integration with Egypt, noting that the Egyptian market is a top priority for Jordanian investors.

Jordanian investments in the Egyptian market total 512 million dollars and they cover the domains of information technology and communications, construction, services, agriculture and industry.

There are 1,527 Jordanian companies operating in Egypt, he said, adding that more of them are willing to increase their investments in Egypt within coming period.
