Abu dhabi - WAM
As part of the UAE's policy to build trade and economic relations with other countries of the world, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, will embark on a six-day tour of Cuba and Mexico on Sunday.
During the visit, Al Mansouri will hold talks with senior Cuban and Mexican officials on ways to increase economic, trade, investment and tourism exchange.
''The UAE pays special attention to its economic relations with countries in Latin America given the rapid economic growth Cuba and Mexico have been witnessing, which has encouraged the UAE to build economic and trade partnerships with them,'' said Al Mansouri.
The visit, he hoped, would lay down the framework for a new chapter in economic and investment co-operation with these countries.
For Cuba, the minister said the air service agreement the UAE signed with Cuba in 2015 would have a direct impact on encouraging trade, investment and tourism exchange, benefiting both Emirati and Cuban economies.
With regard to Mexico, the minister said the focus of talks would be on many vital sectors including tourism, civil aviation, industry, renewable energy and water.
''The UAE will be mainly interested in raising the volume of trade in agricultural products, and pumping more investment into Mexico's agro-industrial sector as part of its plans to achieve food security,'' he added.
