China's President Xi Jinping

China's President Xi Jinping began today an official visit to the State of Chile, aimed at consolidation of bilateral relations between China and Latin American countries.

       The Chinese President is scheduled to meet with senior ministers and officials in Chile, to discuss trade and economic relations besides a range of topics of mutual interest.

       Chile is the third and last leg of a tour by the Chinese president of Latin America, which already took him to Ecuador and Peru.

       Mutual trade volume has grown between China and Chile quadrupled since 2006, when a free trade agreement between the two countries was implemented . China is now the largest trading partner and the largest exporter to Chile.
