Tareq Amer, the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt

Tareq Amer, the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), will visit Germany Monday for further talks on a loan agreement between Egypt and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said the Egyptian ambassador in Berlin.

During his three-day stay, Amer will also probe with German officials means of boosting financial and monetary cooperation between the two countries, Badr Abdel Aati told MENA correspondent in Berlin.

Amer's visit comes after stops by President of the Deutsche Bundesbank Jens Weidmann and German National Security Advisor Christoph Heusgen in Egypt last June to meet with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Abdel Aati said.

It also follows a recent meeting between Sisi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in China, he added.

Amer is scheduled to meet with Weidmann to continue talks on joint cooperation between their banks, the diplomat noted.

He will also get together with State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Finance Thomas Steffen and a federal IMF team at the Bundestag, Abdel Aati said.

Amer will also hold talks with the state secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation, he added.
