President of the Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani casted his ballot in the referendum on independence of the autonomous region on Monday.

Earlier in the day, Kurdish voters started going to polling stations to cast their ballot in the independence referendum.

The Kurdish government said that the referendum is a democratic option to know the opinion of the Kurds on the separation. 

The Iraqi government said the referendum is against the Iraqi constitution and is widely opposed by Arab and foreign countries.
