The crown prince of Bahrain was greeted with a guard of honour and a 21-gun salute as he arrived at the capital’s Presidential Airport for a state visit to the UAE on Monday.
Prince Salman bin Hamad, also the First Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain, was greeted by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
Prince Salman highlighted the close ties between the UAE and Bahrain, saying they shared a deep link rooted in a fraternal bond and a common destiny.
"My visit to this sisterly nation is an opportunity to express the pride of the Bahraini leadership and peoples in the UAE’s honourable position towards them," he said.
The Bahraini crown prince also complimented the achievements of UAE and its leaders which he said "contributed to the development of its modern cultural renaissance in various fields, and strengthened its position regionally and internationally in various sectors".
Prince Salman was also greeted by a number of UAE leaders and ministers at the airport including Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
