Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati was appointed as the chairman of 5th Assembly of Experts in Iran which began to work on Tuesday.
In today's voting, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati received 51 votes out of 86 while Ayatollah Ebrahim Amini and Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi got 21 and 13 votes respectively, according to Iran's (IRNA) News Agency.
The 88-member Assembly of Experts is an important body in Iran responsible for supervising and electing the country's supreme leader. The members of the Assembly are elected for 8-year tenure.
