Ammar Al Nuaimi issues Emiri Decree on establishment

H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, has issued Emiri Decree No. 28 of 2017 on the establishment of the Ajman Statistics and Competitiveness Centre, which is effective from the date of signing.

The Decree was issued after reviewing Federal Decree Law No. 09 of 2006 regarding the Population Register System and Emirates ID Card; Federal Decree No. 06 of 2015 establishing the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, FCSA; Emiri Decree No. 04 of 2014 on re-organising the Executive Council of the Emirate of Ajman, which was amended by Emiri Decree No.10 of 2017; Emiri Decree No. 06 of 2017 concerning the organisation of statistical work in Ajman, and Emiri Resolution No. 13 of 2014 approving the organisational structure of the Executive Council. This is in accordance with the powers granted by H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, authorising Sheikh Ammar to issue Emiri Decrees, in the absence of the Ajman Ruler.

The Decree, which included 16 articles on the definitions and legislations, stipulates that a centre called the Ajman Statistics and Competitiveness Centre shall be established in the emirate of Ajman. It shall be attached to the Executive Council and shall have the legal personality and capacity necessary to carry out the legal acts that ensure the fulfilment of its functions. It shall financially and administratively follow the General Secretariat of the Executive Council.

The Centre is the local competent authority in the emirate and the main source and sole reference in statistical and competitive matters. The headquarters of the centre shall be located in Ajman and may upon the approval of the Chairman of the Executive Council, establish branches inside the emirate.

The Decree shall be effective from the date of issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette, and other competent authorities should implement its provisions. Any provision contrary to the provisions of this Decree shall be repealed.

Sheikh Ammar said that the issuance of this Decree comes from the belief in the importance and the necessity of enhancing the role of statistical work and enhancing the competitiveness of the emirate in various developmental fields, according to the objectives of the Ajman Vision 2021.

Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Chairwoman of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, congratulated the Ruler of Ajman and the Crown Prince on the establishment of the centre, which is the first of its kind at the local level.
