Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit headed for New York Saturday to attend the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. 

In New York, Abul Gheit is scheduled to meet with leaders and foreign ministers of major world countries, said AL spokesman Mahmoud Afifi. 

He will also hold talks with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and his envoys for Syria, Libya, Yemen and Iraq, Afifi added. 

Abul Gheit will also attend a meeting of the Libya Quartet, which groups - besides the AL - the EU, UN and AU, added the spokesman.
