The President of the Republic, Field Marshal, Omer al- Bashir has returned home after his participation in the celebration of the Day of Ethiopian Nationalities held in the capital of the Afar region Samra, in the presence of the Djibouti President, and the Somali Prime Minister.
The President was received upon arrival at Khartoum airport by the First Vice President of the Republic, the National Prime Minister, Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, and number of ministers.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs prof. Ibrahim Ghandour, noted in press statement at Khartoum airport, that the president of the republic has addressed the Ethiopian celebration in which he stressed the eternal and strength of the bilateral relations between the two countries, and has congratulated the Ethiopian nation and government on their celebrations of the Ethiopian nationalities day.
Ghandour indicated that the president of the republic has indicated in his address the forward progress of the Ethiopian unity and development, and pointed to the Sudan's completion of its national dialogue, the formation of the unity government, besides the progress in achieving security stability and peace in the country, the boosting of the social fabric.
He said that the president of the republic has indicated that the cooperation between the Sudan and Ethiopia is a model for the nation's cooperation in the region.
The foreign minister noted that the president of the republic held a closed meeting with the Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn during which they discussed the bilateral economic and political relation and ways for boosting them further, besides a number of the regional files related to the IGAD and the realization of peace in the state of south Sudan, and the meeting of the ministers of the IGAD during the period of 15-16 of current December in Addis Ababa, which will be followed by the convocation of forum of the revitalization of South Sudan peace.
