Hamed Abdel Daem, Media Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture on Tuesday dismissed reports claimed a meeting was held by Minister Esam Fayed and a delegation from the US Department of Agriculture. 

In a statement, the ministry denied that any conversations were held between the two sides. 

"Reports claiming that a meeting was held, to discuss the import of US rice to meet demand of the Egyptian market," are baseless. 

The ministry is not authorized to import any crops from foreign countries, the statement asserted.

It urged media outlets to verify information before publishing and avoid contacts with non-official sources.
