Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit will start a European tour on Monday including Spain and Italy, according to the AL.
Abul Gheit’s visit to Madrid, the first since he assumed office in July 2016, will include two important meetings with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and Foreign Minister Alfonso Dastis, AL Spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said.
The meetings will take up means to promote economic ties at the political, economic and cultural levels, he said.
The Palestinian cause will top the talks between Abul Gheit and the Spanish officials, he said, adding that they will discuss the situation in Syria, Libya, Iraq and Yemen along with means to promote economic, commercial and investment ties between the Arab states and Spain during the coming stage.
During his visit to Italy, Abul Gheit will deliver a lecture before NATO Defense College on the most important challenges facing the regional Arab security system in light of the latest developments in the Arab arena during the recent years topped by armed disputes that broke out in a number of Arab states and the phenomenon of increasing terror, Afifi said.
