Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Co-operation and Development, President of Zayed University and President of the National Committee for the Coordination of Foreign Aid, has affirmed that the celebrations of Zayed Humanitarian Day Work remind us of the first man of humanity in our modern world, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
In a speech on the occasion, Sheikha Lubna said that the United Arab Emirates' helping hands extend to all needy people in the world, regardless of race, religion or colour, to alleviate the suffering of those affected by conflict, humanitarian crises and natural disasters, and provide them with a decent living.
Sheikha Lubna emphasised that the U.A.E.'s ranking in first position globally as the most important country in the world in providing development assistance grants, compared to its national income, last year, according to preliminary data of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), is a global recognition and appreciation for the U.A.E..
Sheikha Lubna added that the late Sheikh Zayed represents the source of generosity and giving, and he is the one who has instilled a love of giving in the hearts of his people, and that people must remember him on this day for his humanity and generosity to all, which made the Emirates a global humanitarian platform for giving.
She said that the U.A.E., under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, followed the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed in providing support for needy people worldwide.
At the end of her speech, Sheikha Lubna prayed to Allah Almighty to rest his soul in eternal peace.
