Fadwa Barghouti

Fadwa Barghouti “The Arab Spring revolutions will definitely be in favour of the Palestinian cause,” said attorney Fadwa Barghouti, wife of Palestinian activist Marwan Barghouti. “The division between Palestinian factions is a letdown to Palestine's martyrs and wounded over the years,” she added.
"Marwan holds on to Palestinian unity because Palestine is greater than any party.”
In an interview with Arabstoday on the sidelines of a press conference held at the headquarters of the Paltsine Liberation Organisation (PLO) in Tunisia, Barghouti said: “I’m visiting Tunisia at the invitation of the President of the National Constituent Assembly, Mustapha Ben Jaafar, in support of Palestinian prisoners, led by Marwan Barghouti, who is a symbol of parliamentarian detainees and Palestinian prisoners, who represent Palestinians struggling for freedom. My visit is part of the campaign launched 10 years ago to internationalise the issue of Palestinian detainees, especially parliamentarians,” she explained.
“The Israeli prisons detain 27 democratically-elected members of the Palestinian parliament.”
“I asked the President of the Tunisian National Constituent Assembly to set April 15 as a session to support the cause of Palestinian prisoners. Tunisians, who have always supported the Palestinian cause, would not reject this proposal, since parliaments are supposed to protect democracies in the world,” the Palestinian lawyer added.
The date coincides with the tenth anniversary of the arrest of her husband, and is also when she plans to launch an international campaign for Palestinian prisoners.
Fadwa Barghouti called for political and diplomatic efforts for the sake of Palestinian detainees, among which are many women and children, including a girl aged sixteen years, and "180 children living in bad conditions in Israeli prisons".
