Citizenship textbooks in Israel are in Hebrew

Citizenship textbooks in Israel are in Hebrew London – Arabstoday The Israeli Education Ministry has ignored repeated calls from Arab citizenship teachers to translate the curriculum into Arabic, leaving Arab teachers to teach citizenship in Hebrew for the last five months.
All schools in Israel are required to teach citizenship, with students tested on the curriculum in summer examinations.  Arab teachers have reportedly said that the ministry failed to make any effort to produce an official translation of the Hebrew curriculum.
The Education Ministry has announced that a translation of the textbook’s newest chapters will be accessible online next week and free Arabic textbooks will be given to schools. The government said that it will not translate textbooks on the Israeli curriculum from private publishers.
The new Israeli curriculum, in force since the beginning of this academic year, has replaced eight chapters of ‘To Be a Citizen in Israel’ which are essential to the new curriculum. The chapters are currently available in Hebrew on the Ministry’s website.
The failure of the Israeli government to make the curriculum accessible to its Arabic students has been considered as a neglect of Arabic students in Israel.
