NSA 407 helicopter on display at IDEX

Two Abu Dhabi-based companies, NorthStar Aviation and Control and Applications Emirates, CAE, have signed a collaboration agreement during IDEX to jointly develop a training solution for the former's NSA407 Multi-Role Helicopter, MRH.
NorthStar Aviation's 407MRH is a development of the Bell 407GX airframe designed specifically for light attack, close air support, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. The 407MRH is targeted at markets that need an economical platform that can engage in multiple roles.
The strategic teaming agreement means NorthStar and CAE will conduct flight test data collection to develop the highest fidelity aerodynamic flight model for the 407MRH.
The flight data collection effort will enable CAE to accurately simulate all 407MRH flight characteristics, mission and weapon systems, and aircraft performance in the suite of simulators and training devices to be developed.
Gene Colabatistto, Group President, Defence and Security, CAE, said that the companies had originally come together to pursue a specific project, but that it became clear that they were both pursuing opportunities in the same market and that a wider collaboration agreement would strengthen their position.
"Simulation-based training has proven to be ideal for enhancing safety, proficiency and mission readiness when preparing helicopter aircrews, and we look forward to working with NorthStar Aviation to develop and deliver a world-class 407MRH training solution to their customers around the world," he said.
Reno Alberto, CEO of Northstar, said, "NorthStar Aviation provides full-spectrum, customised aviation solutions, and part of our commitment is to ensure our customers receive the high-quality training required to safely and efficiently operate our platforms." He added, "CAE is a recognised global leader in helicopter simulation, and our partnership agreement will lead to a high quality training solution for our 407MRH customers worldwide."
