Around 204 media institutions competed in festival
Syrian radio and TV stations earned five awards at the 7th Al-Ghadeer Media Festival which wrapped up activities Thursday evening in the Iraqi city of Najaf, in a new achievement by the Syrian national media.
Around 204 media
institutions from a number of Arab and Islamic countries competed in the 3-day festival.
The Syrian Satellite Channel won the award of best special show and investigative report for the documentary "From the Field", which gives insight into the achievements of the Syrian army in confronting terrorist groups.
Meanwhile, Damascus Radio won two awards; best children program and best talk show, while Sawt al-Sha'b (Voice of the People) Radio gained the award of best political newscast.
The Jury Award went to director Hassan Hannawi, who directed "The Analytic Mind" talk show for which Damascus Radio won its award.
The General Establishment of Radio and TV also received several Certificates of Appreciation, which went to the Syrian Satellite Channel, Channel One, al-Shabab (The Youth) Radio and Voice of the People Radio.
The Festival's Director Mudar al-Bakkaa described the Syrian participation as a courageous step indicating the Syrian media's determination to overcome all difficulties and convey its message to all parts of the world.
Throughout the three days, the Syrian pavilion witnessed a great turnout and members of the Syrian delegation to the Festival gave interviews to various Iraqi, Arab and friendly satellite channels and newspapers, which in turn hailed the progress made by the Syrian media over the past years.
