Abu Dhabi - Arab Today
An Abu Dhabi-based provider of facilities and production services to broadcasters and television production houses plans to boost its coverage of live events in the UAE this year.
Live, a unit of Abu Dhabi Media set up in 2008, has increased its fleet of outside broadcasting vans to 10, which it hopes will enhance its offering to clients including Yas Marina Circuit, Red Bull and the Dubai World Cup.
"The 10th van is not the biggest we have, but it is the smartest outside broadcast van. It can work with the least number of crew. It has more space than any other truck,” said the chief executive, Ali Buali, at the Cabsat media exhibition in Dubai this month. "It will help support [the newly launched] Yas channel, which caters to popular sports, camels, horses, falconry and all marine sports.”
The company covered 1300 events last year, including culture and sport, up from 900 events in 2013. Mr Buali forecasts Live will broadcast 1,600 events this year, including football, endurance horse racing, falcon racing and various watersports.
"Events in the country are increasing, and we have to cater to this increase,” said Mr Buali. "If there are more events, we will add more outside broadcasting vans.”
