Britain's Prince William and his wife Catherine leave the hospital
Two Australian radio presenters involved in a hoax call to King Edward VII’s Hospital in relation to Prince William's pregnant wife Catherine have been taken off air until further notice, after the death of the nurse who took their call
.
The Australian media group Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has issued a statement which says that both Mel Greig and Michael Christian were "deeply shocked and at this time we have agreed that they do not comment on the circumstances."
Nurse Jacintha Saldanha worked at the hospital for four years and her death on Friday morning close to the premises of the hospital remains unexplained. However, police have confirmed that it is not being treated as suspicious.
The radio station's statement read: "We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the death of nurse Jacintha Saldanha from King Edward VII’s Hospital and we extend our deepest sympathies to her family and all that have been affected by this situation around the world. SCA and the hosts have decided that they (the presenters) will not return to their radio show until further notice out of respect for what can only be described as a tragedy."
On Thursday, Australian media regulator, ACMA, said that it had received some complaints about the call by the station in which the duo played Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles to get information about Catherine's condition.
