Lamborghini Aventador has a hefty price tag of $400,000
Dubai Police have added a white and green Lamborghini Aventador to their patrol fleet, the force has announced on its Twitter feed.
On Wednesday morning, the
official DubaiPoliceHQ Twitter feed posted a photo of its latest purchase with the words: \"Dubai Police patrols, now at your service.\"
The Lamborghini Aventador, named after a bull, can do 0 to 60mph in a mind-blowing three seconds, and has a top speed of 217mph. The sports car also has a hefty price tag of $400,000.
The city’s force confirmed last month that their patrol cars were getting a sporty makeover and they have since confirmed that sports cars will be introduced into the fleet to help patrolling on highways.
According to Emirates 24/7, authorities had spent the past year releasing images on social media in a campaign to get the public involved in finalising their new car design.
Last year, official figures put road deaths at 122, with 2161 injuries, many of which occurred on the emirate\'s notorious Sheikh Zayed highway.
Around 15% of traffic fines issued in Dubai every day are for driving at speeds in excess of 130mph, police figures released in March showed.
Dubai\'s police force is not the first to add Italian sports cars to its fleet. In 2009, Qatar\'s Traffic Department purchased a Lamborghini Gallardo, followed by a range of Porsches.
