In our daily search for provocative designs, we stumbled across this stylish bathroom duo by Innsbruck-based Nina Mair. With a great love for detail, the designer creates items meant to stir people at an emotional level. The Shell Bathtub is a delicate walnut tub defined by a high level of comfort and sophistication: ” The atmospheric and warm wood produces an exceptionally aesthetic enjoyment. Shell Bathtub makes an attractive impression, long before it is filled with hot water and relaxing oils, to spoil its owner with the luxury spa experience.”
Delicate and thus highly appealing, the Shell bathtub is made of genuine, hand-polished and oiled walnut. According to the designer, it is carved from a solid block of aromatic walnut using a precision CNC milling machine. The final form is refined, polished and oiled by hand many more times. The exacting production process includes precise positioning of every corner and curve, and the ergonomic optimization of every radius and incline – including for use by two people.
Such a comfort-inducing bathtub could only be adjoined by a wash basin also meant to stir up relaxation: “Functionality and substance dominate the Shell Basin design, the washbasin from the Shell range of bathroom furniture. The sophisticated drain and overflow are integrated and lie flush with the surface. This masterpiece of craftsmanship is available in two versions – as an individual or double washbasin.” A walnut drawer and a towel rail are integrated into the minimalist concrete wash table for a contemporary look.
