Hanoi Graceful Hotel
Hotel rates in Hanoi dropped 32 percent in the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2012, making the Vietnamese capital one of the top bargain destinations for 2013. That’s according to online reservation
site Hotels.com, which looked at cities that experienced the biggest hotel price drops to come up with their ranking.
Their reasoning? Though the destinations may not be the cheapest in absolute numbers, the price decreases give consumers more value for their dollars compared to previous travel periods in destinations that may have been considered unaffordable, says Hotels.com.
Here are 10 cities which experienced hotel price drops, based on prices paid by Canadian travelers using Hotels.com, from January to June of this year over the same period in 2012:
Hanoi, Vietnam: 32 percent
Warsaw, Poland: 26 percent
Phnom Penh, Cambodia: 20 percent
Siena, Italy: 15 percent
Laguna Beach, California, USA: 15 percent
Santiago, Chile: 14 percent
Zurich, Switzerland: 14 percent
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada: 13 percent
Seoul, South Korea: 12 percent
Quebec City, Canada: 12 percent
Meanwhile, according to TripAdvisor’s TripIndex Cities 2013, Sofia, Bulgaria was deemed the cheapest and most affordable travel destination this year, after looking at the cost for hotel, transportation, cocktails and dinner for two. And Hanoi and Warsaw rounded out the top three least expensive cities ranking as well.
