Some of Seattle's leading musicians including former members of Pearl Jam and Guns N' Roses have announced a one-off show together to support an influential local radio station.
KEXP, a public radio station that was an early champion of Nirvana among other Pacific Northwest bands, is seeking to build a new hub in central Seattle that would include ample space for artists and the public.
To raise funds, the station announced an August 23 show that will include Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready and Duff McKagan, the Seattle-born musician and columnist best known as the bassist for Los Angeles-based Guns N' Roses.
Mudhoney vocalist Mark Arm will front the supergroup, which will also include drummer Barrett Martin of the Screaming Trees, the radio station said on its website.
The concert, to take place on the roof of Seattle's iconic Pike Place Market, will involve covers of songs by punk legends Iggy and the Stooges.
The radio station envisions a new home with an expansive library, a traveling musicians' lounge that offers showers and work stations, and an audience viewing area for KEXP's in-studio shows which average more than one a day.
