Egyptian singer Angham
Egyptian singer Angham denied rumours that she is already working on a new movie, after her success in her first performance as an actress in the TV series
“Men Ghamdet Ein” (in the blink of an eye) which aired at the beginning of 2013.
In an exclusive interview with Arab Today, Angham said “this news is incorrect. I’m not an actress, to be able to finish one job and immediately start another. I’m still an amateur when it comes to acting and I insist on being amateur even in singing, because I hate professionalism and I don’t want to be a professional singer, so I wouldn’t be a professional actress. I’m taking things easy; I love singing, so I will keep singing. If I love acting, I would keep acting too.”
“I cannot live without singing. It is my whole life. I find my life to be meaningless without it. What people don’t know about me is that singing is an essential thing in my life. When I used to feel lonely I would stay in my room and sing, so it’s impossible that any other thing [profession] can take me away from singing,” Angham added.
When asked about her theatrical performances, she said “I have performed twice on stage, once with Ali El Haggar in the play “Rosasa fe al-Qalb” (A bullet in the heart) and the other play was “Alf Leila wa Liela” (One Thousand and One Nights) with the great actor Yahya el-Fakharani, whom I wish to work with again. On stage you are not allowed to make a mistake, if you do anything wrong the audience will not let it go, unlike a TV drama where you can stop or re-shoot a scene.”
“El-Fakhrani is a great and special kind of actor. Every day I spent with him on stage was a lesson for me, where I learned new things and his performance amazed me. Sometimes I would stop working just to watch him. We were about to work on a TV series together some years ago, but because of certain issues we couldn’t go through with it,” She said.
Angham recently finished recording a new romantic song, in the dialect of Gulf Arab countries (Khaliji) entitled “Maqhoura” (Frustrated).
“I chose this song from a large number of songs that were offered to me recently. I am preparing from my first Khaliji album. The lyrics were written by the poet Musab al-Anzi, who I’m working with for the first time, the song is composed by Al Anen and distributed by Rabie Al Saydawi. I recorded it in the Emirati singer and composer Fayez al-Saeed’s studios in Dubai,” she concluded.
