Sharjah Ladies Club

The Sharjah Ladies Club, SLC, will represent the United Arab Emirates in the 17th Arab Women Clubs Basketball Championship to be held in Egypt. The event is organised by the Egyptian Shooting Club, and will be held from 15th-24th October at the 6 October Branch. Teams from across the region are taking part in the competition and the SLC are the only team representing the UAE.

Nada Al Naqbi, Director of the Women Sports Department at Sharjah Ladies Club praised the tremendous support given to women's sports at the Sharjah Ladies Club by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and President of the Sharjah Ladies Club. Al Naqbi expressed hopes that the SLC team will achieve positive results, as it is the sole representative of the UAE in the tournament.

Al Naqbi added, "Today, we are witnessing significant development in the field of women's sports. Sharjah has earned a positive reputation in this area, which has helped increase its participation in regional and international tournaments in a variety of games. Our participation in this tournament is a reflection of this."

The UAE delegation left for Egypt on Tuesday with its technical and administrative crew, including Delegation Leader, Nada Al Naqbi, Administrative Officer, Mai Moussa Al Amiri, Trainer, Ghada Al Rai, and the team's physiotherapist, Dr. Maria Christeta. The team players are, Amal Jamal bin Haider, Sara Issa, Sarah Joumaa, Suhaila Abbas, Alia Al Naqbi, Alyazah Sultan, Alaa Bassam, Duaa Bassam, and Nicole Moody.

The 17th Arab Women Clubs Basketball Championship will see the participation of the Egyptian Shooting Club, the host club, Gezira Sporting Club, Egypt, Sharjah Ladies Club, Al Fuhais Club, Jordan, Dar Sufian al Nahri Association in Nabeul, Tunisia, and Al Amal Sports Club in Nabeul, Tunisia, the Lebanese Sporting Club, Lebanon, Serwane Nwe Club, Iraq, the Petroleum Complex, Algeria, the Olympic Club, Algeria, and the Moroccan Siwar Club, Morocco.
