Rabat - Ahmed Benkhdija
Moroccan Sports Minister, Mohammed Ozayen
A celebration will be organised in Morocco in honour of all the Paralympians who raised the flag of Morocco in London, revealed the Moroccan Sports Minister, Mohammed Ozayen.
The minister said there are jobs
waiting for the champions as well as financial grants which he refused to disclose until the return of the Moroccan delegation from London.
On the other hand, the minister did not conceal his frustration towards the rumours that some Moroccan athletes took drugs during London 2012 Paralympics, confirming that an investigation will take place.
He explained that if it is proved that runner Amin Laalo took stimulants, he will be immediately sacked from his public job. The same fate would happen to runner Mairam Al Alawi Al Salsoli if it is proved that she took stimulants as well.
Ozayen added that if it is proved that the athletes took prohibited stimulants, they will be excluded from the senior athletes programme. The financial compensation given by the country shall be suspended starting from the date that they took the drugs.
The minister announced that the national anti-doping committee will be dissolved and replaced with a more effective body. The judicial lawsuits will be followed against those who take stimulants.
Morocco has won three gold medals in the Paralympics, with Najat el Garraa in women discus throw, El Amin Chentouf in men 5000m race and Azeddine Nouiri in men shot pot. Mohammed Amguoun won a bronze medal in the 400m race.
