Petra Kvitova into WTA top 10
Caroline Wozniacki retained first place in the latest women\'s tennis rankings issued on Monday by the WTA, while freshly-crowned Madrid champion Petra Kvitova shot into the top 10 for the first time.
The Dame Wozniacki tops the bill with 9,790 points from currently injured Belgian Kim Clijsters (8,115) and Russia\'s Vera Zvonareva (7,635).
Victoria Azarenka of Belarus rose one place to a career-high fourth by reaching Sunday\'s Madrid final. Kvitova beat her in straight sets there which lifted the Czech from 18th to 10th place.
Former number one Serena Williams, meanwhile, dropped from 10th to 17th as the US has no women\'s player in the top 10 for the first time in four years.
Williams\' drop also means that there is no American man or woman in the top 10 for the first time in ranking history.
