Wales prop Gethin Jenkins
Wales\'s Gethin Jenkins is to leave the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia with a calf injury, officials said Saturday, the second prop forward
the team has lost in as many days.
Jenkins was ruled out after scans indicated a long recovery time for his calf strain, just a day after Ireland\'s Cian Healy\'s tour was ended by an ankle injury.
\"The expected time for recovery is at least three weeks and given the remaining duration of the tour we felt that Gethin should return home and continue his rehabilitation there,\" Lions head doctor James Robson said.
Jenkins withdrew from Saturday\'s tour game against the Queensland Reds after injuring the calf in training on Friday.
Scotland\'s Ryan Grant has been drafted into the squad to provide cover, although Mako Vunipola will deputise for Jenkins against the Reds.
The Lions management have already called up England prop Alex Corbisiero as cover for Healy ahead of their three Test matches with Australia, which start on June 22.
Corbisiero arrived in Brisbane on Saturday after a five-flight two-day trip from the England team\'s tour in Argentina.
\"It was a long journey but I\'m not complaining -- I would do it again just to be here,\" Corbisiero said upon arrival.
\"You never like to come in for anyone who is injured and I feel for Cian and Gethin but I just feel so privileged to be given this opportunity.
\"It\'s been a bit of a whirlwind afternoon meeting everyone and I\'m looking forward to going to the game tonight and then getting down to training.\"
