Tunisian national team participating in daily training sessions Tunis – Azhar Jarboui The Tunisian Football Federation [FTF] has announced the country’s national team will participate in the African Cup of Nations in South Africa between January 19 to February 10, with Eagles of Carthage - who are training between Doha and Abu Dhabi in preparation for the tournament.
The Tunisian national team arrived in the Qatari capital of Doha on Monday, already participating in daily training sessions until January 7, the date set for the second friendly meeting with the Ethiopian team.
Moreover, the Tunisian national team will hold its third camp in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi from January 10-13 and are expected to meet the Gabon team in two friendly games on January 10 while it will meet Ghana on 13 of the same month.
The Eagles of Carthage began their Africa Cup of Nations campaign in style, beating Iraq 2-1 in Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates [UAE]. Issam Jemaa and Fakhreddine Ben Youssef scored the two second-half goals, while the Iraqi player Younis Mahmoud clinched a compensation goal in the 88th minute.
Tunisia is competing for the African title for the 17th time in the team’s history. They will face Algeria, the Ivory Coast and Togo in Group D, otherwise known as the “Iron Group.” The Tunisian footballers will open their campaign against Algeria team on January 22.
