The Goosebumps series comes to life in the first full-length trailer for the upcoming kid-friendly horror film starring Jack Black.
The trailer for Sony's Goosebumps portrays a dissatisfied young teen, Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette), snooping around his mysterious neighbor's house after hearing screams. Turns out, the closed-off owner of the house next door is the renowned author R. L. Stine (Jack Black) and the monsters of his imagination are very real, being protected from the outside in locked manuscripts.
When Cooper and his friend accidentally open the books, all of Stine's ghoulish villains are released into the real world.
Reminiscent of imaginative films of old -- including Jumanji and The Pagemaster -- the trailer introduces the story of a couple of curious kids who get in over their heads in magical warfare. Black, playing the fictional version of the famous author, must work with the teens to suck every last monster back into the books where they belong.
Goosebumps hits theaters Oct. 16.
