EMI Music Arabia, one of the world’s leading music companies, is honored to announce the signing of major artist Hazim Faris and the release of his debut album “1001 Violin Nights” this month. Hazim Faris was born in Basra. At the age of five, he took violin and lute lessons with the guidance of his teacher and elder brother Hashim K. Makki, who was also a singer and a player of both instruments. Hazim participated in several contests and festivals in Iraq and won many accolades. Hazim’s career continues to flourish. He has composed the music and lyrics for top Iraqi and other Arab singers including Majid Almuhandes, Diana Haddad, Safaa Faris, Huda Haddad, and Adel Khamis. Hazim has composed many pieces that are featured on “1001 Violin Nights.” The album was recorded in Istanbul with the musical troupe of the famous Turkish singer Ibrahim Tattles.
