Film star Emma Stone is to take over the role of Sally Bowles from Michelle Williams in Broadway's Cabaret this fall, the Roundabout Theatre Company announced Wednesday.
Williams will play her final performance in the musical Nov. 9. Stone will make her Broadway debut Nov. 11 and is scheduled to perform in the show until Feb. 1.
The production's Tony Award-winning male lead -- Alan Cumming -- has extended his acclaimed run as Emcee for the second time and will now play the iconic character through March 29.
Director Sam Mendes and co-director/choreographer Rob Marshall recreated their direction and choreography from the 1998 Tony Award-winning production for this revival, which co-stars Linda Emond and Danny Burstein. The show officially opened last April at the Kit Kat Klub at Studio 54 on Broadway.
Cumming won his Tony for his work in the 1998 staging of Cabaret. Featuring a book by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, the musical is based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood.
Stone's film credits include Easy A, Crazy Stupid Love, The Amazing Spider-Man and Magic in the Moonlight.
