Egyptian singer Ahmed Fahmy has said music production in Egypt is “dead,” citing it as the reason he was more involved in acting than singing these days. In his conversation with Arabstoday, Fahmy said the breaches of copyright were also affecting production. \"I am proud to first and foremost be a singer...I am now preparing a surprise for my fans who are waiting for a song,\" he said. He added that he is in two shows that will be broadcast in Ramadan, where his roles are unique. “I work with the actress Ghada Adel in the series \'Ser Alani\' (Known Secret), where I play the role of a doctor who faces a lot of problems as a result of the research he performs. Next is the series \'al-Bahr wal Atshana\' (The Sea and The Thirst) with Rola Saad,” he said. Fahmy continued: “I’m very happy with these two shows and consider them a shift in my career.” About the presidential run-off vote Fahmy said: “The choice is difficult and I have not made a decision so far. I wish the president would were a revolutionary, but what has happened has created confusion for all Egyptian people.”
