The President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo will address the joint sitting of the Parliament (Majlis-e-Shoora) on January 26, (Friday).
Joko Widodo will be the 17th foreign dignitary, who will address the National Assembly and Senate’s joint sitting, a press release Friday said.
The foreign dignitaries who had addressed joint sitting of the Parliament includes Shahanshah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, President of Philippines Diodas Macapagal, President of Indonesia Dr Ahmed Soekarno, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Bandaranaike, President of Turkey Kenan Evren, President of Palestine Yasser Arafat, President of France, François Mitterrand, Speaker Majlis-i-Shura-i-Islami of Iran Hujjat Ul Islam Mehdi Karroubi, President of Iran Ali Akbar Hashmi Rafsanjani, Speaker Majlis-i-Shura-i-Islami of Iran Hojjatol Islam Val Moslemin Ali Akbar Nategh Nouri, Chinese President Jiang Zemin, Queen Elizabeth-II, Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, Prime Minister of China Li Kegiang and President of China Xi Jingping.
Tayyip Erdogan has the Honour to address the joint sitting of the Parliament thrice. President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo will be the second President of Indonesia who will address the joint sitting of the Parliament.
Earlier, President of Indonesia Dr Ahmed Soekarno had addressed the National Assembly of Pakistan on 26 June 1963.
