President of the French Senate Gérard Larcher will make an official visit to Egypt on November 6 leading a high-level delegation, Egyptian Ambassador here Ehab Badawy said.
The visit is in response to an invitation by Egyptian House of Representatives Speaker Ali Abdel Aal, Badawy told MENA.
The envoy said he met today with Larcher to prepare for the Cairo visit, during which President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will meet him for consultations on different regional and international issues of mutual concern.
During the several days’ visit, the Senate president will meet with the Egyptian parliament speaker to probe aspects of parliamentary cooperation and exchange viewpoints on different issues, mainly terrorism and extremism under parliamentary diplomacy, Badawy said.
Larcher will be meeting as well Prime Minister Sherif Ismail to tackle the latest developments in Egypt and state efforts to improve the standard of living of Egyptians through national projects, he added.
A meeting will group him with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on bilateral relations and regional causes, he noted.
Larcher is attaching special importance to Al Azhar’s role in spreading moderate Islam in France and fighting extremism as this will be the focus of his meeting with Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayeb, the Badawy said.
He will discuss with Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese interfaith coexistence.
