Egypt's deputy foreign minister Hamdy Sanad Loza will attend a meeting of Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) top diplomats on behalf of Sameh Shoukry in the city of Barcelona Thursday.
The meeting will focus on actions that have been taken by the union since its establishment in 2008, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid Wednesday.
The participants will also review aspects of the new European neighborhood policy, as well as the files of countering terrorism and extremism and illegal migration, Abu Zeid added.
The UfM is an intergovernmental organization bringing together the 28 European Union Member States and 15 countries from the Southern and Eastern shores of the Mediterranean. It provides a unique forum to enhance regional cooperation and dialogue in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
