The Cairo Criminal Court

The Cairo Criminal Court on Saturday sentenced seven elements of the Daesh-affiliated "Matrouh cell" to death on charges of beheading 21 Egyptian Copts working in Libya in February 2015.

Three of the defendants are still at large.

The sentences should be final after the Egyptian Mufti approves the death penalty.

The court set November 25 for the final ruling session.

The defendants were also convicted of joining military training camps of Daesh terrorist group in Libya and Syria.

The crime of slaughtering the Egyptian workers in Libya was filmed by the terrorist group and released in February 2015.

Explosive materials as well as CDs featuring military training of Daesh militants, were seized in their possession.
